How do I book an introductory session?

Just email or call me to arrange a convenient time for your first session. Once we have agreed a session time, I ask for payment in advance to secure the booking.

There are no forms to complete and you do not need to be referred by anyone.

What is an ‘Introductory Session’?

An Introductory Session is a session I offer all potential clients as a way to try out what it is like to sit in a room and talk with me. The aim of an introductory session is to make sure that you are comfortable that I am the right person to support you before you commit to regular sessions.

What can I expect from the first session?

The most important part of counselling is for the client to feel safe and comfortable with their chosen counsellor. This is why I offer all potential clients an introductory session which is a chance to meet with me and see if I am going to be the right person to support you.

During the first session, I will explain about confidentiality and invite you to talk about what has prompted you to seek counselling. If you know what you would like to achieve from the sessions we can discuss that, but it is fine if you don’t have any specific goals.

At the end of the introductory session, we will discuss the best next steps for you. This may be starting regular counselling or it might be that you want some time to think things through.

Introductory sessions last 50 mins and cost the same as a regular session. There is no obligation for you to return after an introductory session.

What is your cancellation policy?

There is no charge for sessions cancelled with more than48 hours notice.

If you need to cancel with less than 48 hours notice, the full session fee will be charged. The session fee should be paid before the original session time.

Where possible, a rescheduled session will be offered at no additional charge. The rescheduled session must take place during the same week as the original session.
