How Can Counselling Help Me?

Counselling can be used to support people in distress or to help deal with a traumatic event. Sometimes it can be hard to process difficult emotions. Counselling gives you the opportunity to explore your feelings and thoughts in a safe and supportive environment. Whether you are struggling with a single issue or facing a more complex issue, I will work with you to help explore your situation and support you with identifying and achieving any goals you may have.

How does it work?

I work with individuals on a face to face basis. Your counselling session is all about you; you are the focus and we will work at your pace. I will not judge, lecture or advise you. My role is to listen and support you in whatever way you need.

How long will it take?

The day and time, number and frequency of sessions are agreed between the client and counsellor. Each session will normally last 50 mins. Counselling can be time limited (for example 6-12 weeks) or it can be opened ended, where we review our progress at pre-agreed dates.

How do I get started?

Before committing to therapy, I offer an initial, no obligation session. This will allow you the chance to experience therapy and discuss your needs and goals for therapy.

Lindsay Roadnight

I worked as an IT specialist in various blue chip companies for over 15 years before completing my counselling training.

I decided to train as a counsellor after undertaking my own personal counselling and experiencing first hand the changes I could achieve with the support and encouragement of a counsellor. I was in training for over 4 years and graduated with a BA (Hons) in Integrative Relational Counselling from the University of Middlesex.

As part of my private practice, I work with South East Coast Ambulance NHS Trust as a specialist provider of counselling services for their employees. I also volunteer as a counsellor for the in-house employee counselling service for the Royal Borough of Kingston and the Kingston Women’s Centre charity.

My clients have come from a range of different backgrounds and have sought counselling for a wide variety of reasons. Some clients have focused on past events, and others have been looking for support with more current issues.

These are some of the issues I have previously worked with:
Panic Attacks
Relationship Difficulties
Work Problems
Health Worries (including chronic conditions)
Unwanted / Intrusive Thoughts

This list is not exhaustive, if the issue that is concerning you is not on the list, please feel free to contact me to discuss this.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
